June 11, 2013. Walking Day Five
Today was the first full sunny day! Today's journey brought me to the town of Estella. A walk of 22.5km which took 4.5 hours to complete. The trail had many up and downs so it turned out to be quite tiring.
Today I walked the whole way with Jesus Mariano, from San Sebastián. He's a real nice guy and is teaching many new Spanish terms and a few Basque word too! Together we are learning strategies to survive 27 more days!
He's doing the Camino as a way if saying thanks to God for saving his life after a heart attack. We have not talked about spiritual things yet. Culturally it's too soon. Perhaps after a couple hundred more KMS! At lunch I did give him a card with four, one sentence prayers on it. I explained they're to help him focus on God as he remembers the blessing he was given.
Perhaps I'll post them.
